A man who moved to Murfreesboro from another area called the police after being scammed out of $3,100. The victim told police that he found a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado on CraigsList that he wanted to buy. The subject evidently put the money to buy the truck on GreenDot cards and then moved forward with the transaction by sending the card numbers to an email address labeled “eBay Motors.”

The victim thought the truck would arrive on June 27th, but it never came. After waiting one more day, the truck still failed to show up. The victim then called Ebay and an operator told him that he was scammed.

Murfreesboro Police were called to investigate. At this point, it is not known who posted the truck ad on CraigsList, nor is it known who used an email account claiming to be with eBay. The victim is out over $3,000.
