Cripple Creek Cloggers In Croatia

Jul 20, 2017 at 06:26 am by Bryan Barrett

As the Cripple Creek Cloggers continue their golden anniversary year, they are performing this week in Croatia. The local folk dance troupe shares the Appalachian style of old-time music and dancing with audiences around the world.

The group has been performing in Croatia's Trg bana Jelaèiæa. They now head to Sveta Nedelja, a small town near Zagreb.

They return home next Monday, July 23, 2017.

The Cripple Creek Cloggers began a half-decade ago at the old Kittrell School where the troupe was organized as a Share the Fun 4-H activity in 1967. Steve Cates, the 4-H Leader at that time and a teacher at the school, is still the director.

Free Clogging Classes

A 50th anniversary is a major milestone and the group continues to offer free clogging lessons. When they are not on tour, the Cripple Creek Cloggers offer free dance classes at the old Social Security office at 220 E. Vine Street, beside the main fire hall. No experience is necessary, no reservations are required, and there is no charge.
