Fatal Crash on I-24 in Rutherford Co.

(SMYRNA) An out-of-state person is dead after a crash on I-24 in Smyrna. It happened Tuesday around 6pm eastbound (toward Murfreesboro) at mile marker 69, just after the Sam Ridley Parkway exit. The crash included an overturned tractor-trailer rig and several other vehicles.

Eastbound traffic was snarled for hours as the crash was investigated by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The T-H-P isn't releasing the name of the person killed in the crash until next of kin can be notified. However, officials do say that the deceased is from out of state.
