Imagine living in a country where you only have electricity certain times of the day... Or, perhaps you have to wash your clothes in a creek... That is how it is in the small community of La Represa, Dominican Republic and that is what life is like for Angie.

The 19 year old is visiting America for the very first time after being picked by the YMCA to be a camp counselor in America. Angie is currently staying with a family in Murfreesboro.

She described some of the obvious differences between neighborhoods in Murfreesboro verses neighborhoods in La Represa...

Since being in Murfreesboro she has visited the Campus School and talked to students, she has visited the Wilson County Fair, which she said was super fun and she has also gone to the lake for a day of inner tubing.

Angie's Goal is to become a student at MTSU. She told us what she wanted to major in...

She will head back to the Dominican Republic on September the 5th.

On a side note, when you visit her village of La Represa in the Dominican Republic, you will see lot's of residents wearing MTSU clothing, Riverdale High School and Blackman High School clothing. The reason is because New Vision Baptist Church has been heavily involved in mission work in La Represa over the years. Mission work has been lead in the Dominican by New Vision members Moe and Tamara Ludlum. The local couple and their family just moved back to Murfreesboro this month after many years of service in the Dominican.
