Funding for a new high school in Rockvale passes, along with school budget

The Rutherford County School budget for the 2017-2018 year has been approved by the Rutherford County Commission. With that comes the needed funding for a new high school.

County School Board Member Aaron Holladay commented...


Again, Rockvale High School should be complete by year 2019.

What many find interesting is that this will actually be the second Rockvale High School to be built in the Highway 99 area. The first school was opened in 1927 as a K through 12th grade facility. It later closed in 1973.


The Rutherford County School Board previously approved the school's nickname as the "Rockets," the same name used by the first K-12th grade school in Rockvale.
