'Guess Who' and Raise Money for Journeys in Community Living

Sep 23, 2014 at 06:26 pm by Bryan Barrett

Journeys in Community Living invites everyone in our community to get in on the fun of guessing the true identity of a local community member who has dressed up as Dolly Parton to help raise money for the organization's mission.

Development Coordinator Mark Bell says in an effort to raise funds and awareness, they've launched a special contest on their website that will pique the interests of all those Sherlock Holmes' out there. He says those who visit their website, donate $5 and guess the individual's true identity correctly, they'll be entered to win a prize at our upcoming special event.

We've posted the Dolly look-a-like's photo on our website as well as a link to the Journey's site at WGNSRadio.com.

Journeys is a more than 35-year-old nonprofit that serves more than 120 adults with intellectual disabilities daily as they choose and realize their visions of how and where they want to live, work and socialize.

The true identity of the individual pictured will be revealed at Journeys' annual Fall Social & Sponsor Appreciation Event, slated for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 24 at The Warehouse off Middle Tennessee Boulevard in Murfreesboro. Those who correctly guess the true identity of the individual will be entered into a drawing to win a small prize and bragging rights.

The event itself is an integrated costume dance party and will include a special VIP room for event sponsors and ticket purchasers where a silent auction will be held. Among the items up for auction is signed Dolly Parton memorabilia, donated by Dolly's own management agency, CTK Management.
