The longstanding Cool-Aid program based in Murfreesboro continues to heat up as temperatures rise throughout Rutherford County.

Started over 30-years ago, the volunteer based program helps those with poorly functioning AC units and those without an air-conditioner altogether.

As we head into the Independence Day weekend, WGNS expects to see heat index readings as high as 97-degrees, which creates a health hazard for the elderly and medically fragile population. Volunteers with Cool-Aid focus their attention on the elderly and disabled, along with those living in poverty.

To keep the program alive and well, organizers take in new and like new window AC units and fans year round and then distribute to those without during the summer months. Cool-Aid also accepts financial donations to pay for fans and AC units to distribute and install free-of-charge throughout Rutherford County.
