UPDATE: Number of Positive COVID-19 Cases in the Rutherford County Schools

August 30, 2021 – September 3, 2021: A new COVID count was released by the Rutherford County Schools and the latest numbers show that 90 school employees were listed as being COVID positive this past week (August 30th to September 3rd). A total of 556 county school employees missed one or more days that same week and had to be quarantined, due to possible contact with someone who had COVID-19.

When looking at the student population, 1,022 students were reported as being COVID positive between August 30th and September 3rd. In addition to the number of students who tested positive for COVID-19, there were 10,197 students that had to be quarantined at least one day or more this past week.

There are currently 48,804 students enrolled in the Rutherford County School System.

Smyrna High School reported the largest amount of students testing positive for COVID-19 last week with 74-positive cases. The school with the highest quarantine rate from August 30th through September 3rd was Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro. At Riverdale, 615 students had to quarantine at least one day or more this past week.

August 23, 2021 – August 27, 2021: One week prior, there were 107 school employees absent after testing positive for COVID-19 and 306 county school employees had to quarantine at least one day or more from August 23rd through August 27th.

When looking at the student population one week prior, there were 1,360 positive cases of COVID-19 and an average of 3,680 students quarantining August 23rd through August 27th.
