Rutherford County Commissioner Robert Stevens has announced his candidacy in the Republican primary for the new 13th district of the Tennessee House of Representatives.

“I’m running for state representative because I believe that we should be doing everything we can at the state level to oppose the disastrous policies of the Biden administration. I also believe that the residents of our new district deserve a representative with a consistent and solid conservative record who will fight to represent their views every day.”

“I’m a lifelong conservative Republican, and I am 100% Pro-Life and a strong supporter of the Second Amendment,” Stevens said. “Since I was elected to the county commission, I have consistently been the most conservative commissioner. I have opposed wasteful spending and property tax increases while supporting more transparency in government and promoting ethical decision making.”

Stevens has been a resident of Rutherford County for over thirty years. He is a graduate of Lipscomb University and the University of Memphis law school. He has owned and operated a successful law practice in Rutherford County since 2009. Stevens currently serves as president of Smyrna Rotary Club, served eight years on the Motlow College Foundation’s board of trustees, and is a graduate of Leadership Rutherford. He is a member of Smyrna Church of Christ, the Stones River chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, and Smyrna Independent Merchants Association.
