A local family was flying to California for a family member's funeral, and their young son stayed home to attend school. While driving to the school to pickup her grandson, the grandmother had a massive stroke. Deputy Wrather was the one who phoned the parents, who were now in LA. The local mom was completely overwhelmed. The sheriff’s deputy calmed her and assured that her son was in his care and everything was OK. Deputy Wrather also went to the hospital several times to check on the grandmother. The mother wrote to the deputy saying: “I truly believe God knew what was going to happen that day, and picked you to be there for our family.” And for a happy ending--the grandmother is recovering from her stroke and Deputy Wrather is that family's "hero"!
