The United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties encourages local residents to volunteer using its new tool, www.unitedwayvolunteer.org. The site allows both groups and individuals to sign up for volunteer opportunities in the areas of education, income, health and rebuilding lives.

“We saw a need to have a mechanism for residents of Rutherford and Cannon Counties to sign up for volunteer activities through United Way,” said Kristen Hampton, United Way’s Director of Communications and Events. “One way that we encourage people to make an impact on the community is through volunteerism, and this site is a great way for us to do just that. Bondware Web Solutions in Murfreesboro was generous enough to donate the site to us, and we are grateful for their partnership.”

The site has opportunities ranging from events to yard work to tutoring and mentoring. The site also currently has opportunities for United Way’s Stuff the Bus. As one of its four impact areas, United Way is focusing on this educational program in order to provide the students not only with school supplies, but also books and activities promoting literacy.

Individuals and groups can sign up at www.unitedwayvolunteer.org. All volunteers who sign up through the site receive a LIVE UNITED t-shirt.
