There was a fatal one-vehicle crash around 7:23 Friday morning on Kings Ridge Drive, near the new Aldi grocery store and Memorial Boulevard.

According to Murfreesboro Police Public Information Officer Larry Flowers, "The preliminary investigation revealed that a pickup truck veered off the road and struck a tree line."

The unresponsive driver was evaluated at the scene by Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services and Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department personnel before being transported to the Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver has been identified as 69-year old John Goad of Murfreesboro.

Murfreesboro Police' Fatal Accident Crash Team(FACT) are conducting the investigation.
