Murfreesboro Police report that military training activities took place Saturday night (5/11/2019) at the Murfreesboro Municipal Airport, 1930 Memorial Boulevard. These exercises will continue the following weekend.
And then on the following Sunday (5/19, 2019) these training session will occur at Murfreesboro's Sinking Creek Plant of the Water Resources Recover Facility, 2032 Blanton Drive, Next week's activities will also include the Jordan Water Farm, 1406 Central Valley Road, and the Doug Young Public Safety Training Facility on Bridge Avenue.
The activity is part of larger military training exercises being conducted in Middle Tennessee during the month of May. Training activities include aircraft and tactical vehicles, noise-making devices, simulating explosions and simulated gunfire but no live ammunition will be used. The U.S. Marine Corp Special Operations Command (MARSOC) Training activities are being coordinated with local law enforcement authorities to ensure public safety. This training poses no public safety threat and should last one to two hours.
Residents are asked to avoid these areas, if possible, during the activities to help ensure the training is both safe and realistic.
