Monteagle Democrat Considering Run Against DesJarlais, Carr and Tracy for 4th Congressional Seat

Jul 25, 2013 at 06:00 am by Bryan Barrett

More competition in the race for the 4th congressional seat currently held by Dr. Scott DesJarlais is a possibility. Reports indicate a retired CPA who once worked on behalf of President Barack Obama during his past campaigns, is thinking about running.

Democratic activist from Monteagle Lenda Sherrell, is weighing a bid in the sprawling district which is now held by. Rep. DesJarlais. At this point the South Pittsburg, Tennessee doctor, faces GOP primary opposition in 2014 from state Republican Sen. Jim Tracy, of Shelbyville, and state Rep. Joe Carr, of Lascassas.

According to an article about Sherrell posted by the Tennessee Democratic Party in 2012, “As an activist and Obama campaigner, she learned that the best way to organize is through building one-on-one relationships with like-minded individuals who share a desire for a better America and a better Tennessee.”
