More Fake $20's In Murfreesboro - Where is this Moo-la Coming From Anyway?

Sep 16, 2013 at 05:15 am by Bryan Barrett

Counterfeit money is coming back to bite local residents. A Murfreesboro couple that recently took a trip to Kroger on Middle Tennessee Boulevard found out the hard way that the money they received as change was fake cash. The victims found out the money was counterfeit when they went to Burger King for lunch. The fast food clerk would not accept the cash because the money was indeed fake.

Police responded to the restaurant and were told by the man and the woman they had just received the cash as change from Kroger. Officers then journeyed to the Kroger store where the cashier confirmed she had just given the cash to the victims as change.

The money was collected as evidence and at this point, police still have few details to go on and an arrest has not been made.

In a similar incident, a fake $50 was used at the same Kroger store. The store employee described the person who paid for their groceries with the fake $50 as a Hispanic male in his twenties. He was gone by the time police arrived.
