MTSU Committees to Meet Next Week - Discuss Alcohol being sold at Campus Events

The MTSU Board of Trustees will hold committee meetings on Tuesday of next week (2/27/18). The Executive and Governance Committee meetings will address the salary of MTSU President Sydney A. McPhee and his contract.

Another key item that will be addressed is the sale of alcohol at athletic events held on the campus. The talks may also enter into serving alcohol or selling alcohol at theater events and items that surround the arts.

Other state college campuses like the University of Tennessee in Knoxville allows for alcohol at approved locations. One of those locations is the Neyland Stadium where football games are held along with their music center and more.

In addition to covering the subjects of alcohol and the president's pay, the Finance and Personnel Committee will go over university policy and budget actions.

The Middle Tennessee State University Board of Trustees committee meetings:

1.) Executive and Governance Committee: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, President's Conference Room, Cope Administration Building, MTSU campus in Murfreesboro. Agenda items include approval of minutes and recommendations for approval of institutional mission, president's compensation and contract, and Board of Trustees policy.

2.) Academic Affairs, Student Life and Athletics Committee: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, President's Conference Room, Cope Administration Building, MTSU campus in Murfreesboro. Agenda items include approval of minutes; recommendations for approval of a proposed rule and related university policy, the award of expedited tenure and, new academic programs; and, information regarding academic actions, the sale of alcohol at athletic venues and the Research Foundation.

3.) Finance and Personnel Committee: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, President's Conference Room, Cope Administration Building, MTSU campus in Murfreesboro. Agenda items include approval of minutes, recommendation for approval of a proposed rule and related university policy; and, discussion and information regarding the budget, the Regional Scholars Program and capital outlay.
