MTSU to Announce New Degree on Tuesday in Data Sciences

MTSU plans to make a MAJOR announcement at 10 am Tuesday (Feb. 18) at the Nashville Technology Council headquarters.

In Nashville, MTSU will announce a new Data Science Initiative that includes a new bachelor's degree in Data Science available starting this fall as well a new Data Science graduate certificate targeting working professionals looking to enhance their skills in this emerging area of "big data."

MTSU President Sidney McPhee will be joined by university faculty and leadership as well as state higher education officials and representatives from the Greater Nashville tech and data sector who support this new effort to "upskill" the regional workforce.

MTSU professor Charlie Apigian, recently named Data Scientist of the Year by the NTC, has led the university's efforts in this area and will share more details about this new program.
