Hitting the sweepstakes is a dream that most of us have, but the chances of actually winning are few and far between. A 49-year old Murfreesboro man recently received a phone call from a subject claiming to be with Publishers Clearing House. The culprit, who told the victim his name was George Henderson, told the victim that he had won $900-thousand and a new Mercedes to boot. Henderson said to claim the winnings the taxes on the prize would have to be paid first.

The Henderson subject sent the victim on a goose chase to buy two GreenDot Gift Cards. On one card the victim added $900 in funds. The second card had a little over $900 added to it. After paying for the gift cards the victim immediately got out his cell phone and called Mr. Henderson back telling him the account numbers on the cards. The victim then grew suspicious after the Henderson character asked for another $500 in funds.

WGNS called the Henderson man, but the call went straight to voicemail. At this point, we have not received any calls back and the victim is now out over $1800.
