Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity will receive a grant of $96,000 as part of a $1 million donation from Nissan North America to support local Habitats across the U.S. Nissan's fourteenth build in Rutherford County started last week (3/13/2019).

"We are so blessed to have the continued support of Nissan USA for both the construction of a Habitat house in Rutherford County and Habitat builds across the country!" states Terri Shultz, Executive Director of the Rutherford Habitat affiliate. "Not only do they support us with grant funds but the volunteers from Nissan are some of the best and they always make the construction go smoothly!"

Nissan employees will volunteer with Habitat in 13 communities across the country, working alongside families on home construction and revitalization projects. For the Rutherford County build they will provide volunteers throughout the construction, which starts March 13. The house is expected to be completed in May with a Ribbon Cutting and House Dedication at that time.

Nissan's mission is to enrich people's lives, so we value our partnership with Habitat for Humanity because it helps to build sustainable communities in the areas where our employees live and work", said Rebecca Vest, Nissan Vice President, Corporate Development and Social Responsibility.

Our employees look forward to working alongside future homeowners as they build their homes. The work is enriching for those families and for our employees as they make memories that will last a lifetime.

The 2019 Nissan USA house is being built with Future Habitat Homeowner Anji on Douglas Avenue in Murfreesboro. Anji is working to complete her 300 hours of sweat equity required to be in the Habitat program, by working on the construction of both her house and other Habitat builds in Rutherford County.

She has completed the 50-hour Financial and Homeowner Education program and has her finances in order, so she can qualify for the 0-interest mortgage to buy her Habitat home. This unique process encourages homeowners to be prepared to maintain their home, manage their money, and
be invested in the program and the neighborhood.

The wall panels for Anji's house were built in November at a Panel Build on the MTSU campus, co-sponsored by Bob Lamb Exit Realty.

For the 14 th year in a row, students from the Newman Catholic Student Center at Northern Illinois University, will be spending their Spring Break volunteering with RCHFH in Murfreesboro. The seventeen students will spend their time volunteering on the Nissan house as well as two house
rehabs.

RCHFH is celebrating 30 years as a Habitat for Humanity International affiliate and this will be House #160 and the fourtenth Habitat house funded by Nissan USA in Rutherford County.

Nissan also presented Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity with a brand new NV3500 Cargo van that is being used for all Habitat' construction projects.
