One Dead, One Injured In Wednesday Morning Crash

(MURFREESBORO) The cause of grid-lock traffic on Northwest Broad Street around 10:30 Wednesday (11/6/2019) morning was because of a single-car fatal crash.

A report from the Murfreesboro Police Department shows that witnesses saw a 2007 white Chevy Impala traveling along the should at a high rate of speed. It clipped a car, veered off the shoulder, hitting a rock and going airborne, before going down and embankment and crashing into a tree.

The crash occurred on the inbound lane on Broad (highway 41-70, going toward Murfreesboro), between I-840 and Bumpus Harley Davidson.

A heavy-duty wrecker was used to lift the car out in order to get to the trapped victim. First responders from Murfreesboro Fire Rescue used extrication equipment to remove the body of the 19-year old male driver. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services took the 39-year old female passenger in the Impala to the ER at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The city's Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) is investigating the accident.
