The mandatory OPEN BURNING BAN has been lifted for Rutherford County. Rainfall over the past few days has made a dramatic difference.

Rutherford County Fire and Rescue's Chief Larry Farley said, "However, everyone is required to have a permit to open burn between October 15th and May 15th."

State law requires citizens to obtain a permit from the Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry before conducting any open burning of wood debris. Permits are free of charge. You must call 1-877-350-2876 to obtain a permit.
