Snow or no snow--construction projects move forward, but perhaps a little slower. Here are areas in the 'Boro to avoid now through February 21st, which Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran feels might be ripe for "traffic challenges".

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm: Incidental work continues along Joe B Jackson Pkwy and along S Church Street. There will be partial lane closures and minor traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Veterans Pkwy aka Kimbro Road Widening Project (Barfield Road to Saint Andrews Drive)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: 6:30 am to 4:30 pm: Box culvert and storm drain work continues on Veterans Pkwy. There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions (trucks entering and exiting the job site). Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Ridgley Road and W College Street for underground utility crossing. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. Broadmor Blvd is closed to traffic at Memorial Blvd for utility crossing construction work. Broadmor Blvd can still be accessed from NW Broad Street. W Lytle Street is also closed to traffic at NW Broad Street for construction work. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

New Walmart Project (S Church Street at Joe B Jackson Pkwy)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: Traffic signal work continues at S Church Street and Tiger Hill. There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

TDOT Intersection Improvements on Old Fort Pkwy at Market Place

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: There will be lane closures on Old Fort Pkwy for grinding, removal and realignment of pavement marking lines. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. One lane will remain open in each direction. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

E Burton Street Tree Removal Work (between Academy Street and Maney Avenue )

Expected Road Closures: Thursday, February 19, 8:00 am to 2:00 pm: City Urban Environmental Departmental crews will be removing a tree on E Burton Street between Academy Street and Maney Ave. E Burton Street between Academy Street and Maney Ave will be closed to through traffic. Local residents on E Burton Street will have access at all times. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

I-24 Median Street Lighting Maintenance Project (Medical Center Pkwy Exit 76, Highway 99 Exit 80 and S Church Street Exit 81)

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday and Thursday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: City traffic signal contactor will be performing median street lighting work on I-24 at Exit 76, 80 & 81. There will be lane closures on I-24 at the three interchange exits. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.
