The region semifinals is a night of the toughest, hardest fought basketball games of the year. The winner advances to the state's final 16. Those who come up short end their season.

For the Blackman girls and boys, Oakland and Central Magnet girls - they live to fight another day. For fans of the Siegel and Stewarts Creek boys and MTCS girls - their seasons end.

The Oakland girls beat Tullahoma 54-34 and will have a fourth battle with the Blackman Lady Blaze, who downed Lawrence County 63-27. Three of the Lady Pat's six losses have been to Blackman, but they only lost by six last Saturday in the district championship game.

A Siegel boys comeback against Lawrence County fell short, with a shot at the buzzer that just missed. Lawrence County won 58-57 to end the Stars' season. A season with a rough start, but which saw them win nine of their last 11-games.

The Blackman boys used a 23-7 fourth quarter to end the Stewarts Creek season and keep theirs alive. They defeated the Red Hawks 42-33.

The season for the MTCS girls ended with a tough loss to now 32-and-1 Houston County. A close game throughout ended in a 51-44 loss for the Lady Cougars.

Games tonight (Friday) include the Central Lady Tigers playing at Cookeville High versus Cannon County for the Region 4-AA girls title. Game time is 7pm.
