The state Registry of Election Finance has dismissed a complaint filed against state Sen. Jim Tracy over a pancake breakfast he held in 2012 for constituents.

The Tennessean reports the panel voted 4-0 after determining there was no evidence that Tracy misused campaign funds at the event.

The Republican, who represents both Rutherford County and Bedford County, announced 11 days after the event that he would run for the congressional seat held by U.S. Rep. Scott DesJarlais, a Republican from Jasper.

Shelbyville resident James R. Moore filed the complaint, saying that he believed Tracy may have violated campaign finance reporting procedures by having the event shortly before launching his bid for Congress.

The event on Dec. 22, 2012, was billed as an opportunity to meet Tracy and donate to Toys for Tots. Despite the negative light that was cast over the event by some, the event was a success.
