Senior Community Increasing in Rutherford County

About 16% of the population in Rutherford County is over the age of 60. Within the next 10 years, that percentage could climb as high as 20%, depending on longevity trends and medical care.

Tina Gudat (pronounced Goo-Dat) is the nurse supervisor at The Waterford in Smyrna, an assisted living community with a Memory Care Unit and an Adult Day Care wing. Gudat talked to WGNS about the dangers of living alone if you are part of that aging population...

Gudat pointed out the advantages of living in a senior living environment...
