If you're interested in becoming interim Rutherford County Sheriff, you have until Friday to submit your application.

Applicants must submit information to the Tennessee Peace Officer Standards Commission by this Friday. After verifying certification, a list of qualified candidates will be given to the Rutherford County Clerk by January 6th.

After that, the Rutherford County Commission will interview the applicants at a January 10th meeting. Two days later, the commission will meet to appoint the interim sheriff.

This is all in response to embattled Sheriff Robert Arnold's incarceration and subsequent suspension. He faces a 14-count federal indictment in relation to JailCigs. His pre-trial release was revoked after an alleged Labor Day domestic incident. Arnold was suspended from his duties without pay by a Davidson County judge after an ouster suit was filed.
