We have an update on the bridge over Broad Street. Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) contract crews plan to start shifting traffic on Memorial Boulevard in Murfreesboro tonight (Thursday, March 13th) and it could take several days to completely shift traffic.

The phase in of construction and the shifting of traffic lanes will continue through Tuesday, March 18th, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, (excluding Saturday and Sunday). WGNS confirmed there will be alternating lane closures on Memorial Blvd./ Old Fort Parkway eastbound and westbound lanes over the CSX Railroad just west of the intersection to install traffic attenuators and a barrier rail.  This will allow crews to remove the median wall and begin construction on the other side of Memorial Blvd.

This traffic shift is part of the project to completely reconstruct the intersection of Broad St. and Memorial Blvd. /Old Fort Parkway (SR 96/SR 10) by creating a single point urban interchange.  The project will create a new bridge on Memorial Blvd. that will cross over Broad Street.  The $17.6 million project is expected to be completely finished in early summer of 2016.
