The Department of Children Services were called after a woman was caught allegedly shoplifting inside the JC Penny Store.

Once Murfreesboro Police arrived on the scene, they made contact with a loss prevention worker. Inside the store, Officer Sean Martin observed a female conceal merchandise and pass all points of purchase with the items in question. The woman was stopped and identified as Yeni Portillo De Alferez. She was escorted to the Loss Prevention Office and issued a misdemeanor citation for theft.

Because the woman was with two small children, DCS was notified about the case.
