(SMYRNA) If you were shopping near Kohl's Department Store around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon (11/19/2019), you may have wondered what all of the police action was about.

Sergeant Bobby Gibson told NewsRadio WGNS, "Officers responded to a possible armed robbery call. Upon arrival, it was determined that an armed robbery did not occur, but the incident was related to an illegal narcotics transaction."

He explained that one of the suspects fled on foot and officers searched the area until the suspect was located.

As a safety precaution, a couple of area schools were placed into a lockdown status, but students were never in any danger related to this incident. Those schools have since concluded lockdown procedures.

Sergeant Gibson said, "Two individuals were taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing."
