Prepare for increased traffic, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get from point A to point B.

TSSAA Spring Fling, an Olympic-style event featuring the state's top athletes, will take place in Rutherford County May 19-23. The best high school athletes in the state will compete for championships in tennis, baseball, softball, soccer, and track & field. Robert Rickman files this report...

Held at 13 different venues across Rutherford County, this week-long event brings in 5,000 athletes and approximately 25,000 spectators. Forty-four champions are crowned in five days during this exciting week of competitions.

Barbara Wolke, of the Rutherford County Convention and Visitors Bureau says, "Hotels will be full and local restaurants will be very busy during the week. With an economic impact of $3.5 million, Spring Fling is not only a great boost to our economy but also offers some quality family entertainment."

Rutherford County has hosted Spring Fling since 2006 and currently has the contract through 2017. It takes approximately 1,000 community volunteers to make this event happen each year.  I'm Robert Rickman.

Be sure to attend the games to support our guest and local schools:
