Sunday Night Shooting College Grove Apartments

Another shooting in Murfreesboro. At 7:09 Sunday (6/4/2017) evening Murfreesboro police received a call about a shooting at the College Grove Apartments at 1540 New Lascassas Highway. Dispatch was told by the 911 caller that shots were fired in the parking lot.

Murfreesboro Police Sergeant Kyle Evans told NewsRadio WGNS, "When officers arrived they discovered one person had been shot. That person has been taken to Vanderbilt by ambulance."

Detectives are investigating.

Data from the Murfreesboro Police Department shows that College Grove Apartments has the highest number of calls to police. Murfreesboro officers have been called over 220 times since the first of the year. The Vie Apartments, formerly known as Raider Ridge, is second with approximately 190 calls.

Last month there were three murders at apartment complexes near the MTSU campus in the 19-days between May 4th and the 23rd. At that point, city officials began meetings with apartment managers noting the police would be cracking-down, but apartment's are expected to do their share as well. Murfreesboro Police Chief Karl Durr will be on WGNS "live" this coming Wednesday morning (6/7/2017) and will address this on-going problem.
