UPDATE: Smyrna Man Involved In Franklin Shooting

We have an update on the shooting incident in Franklin involving a Smyrna man and a woman from Shelbyville.

Franklin Police Lieutenant Charles Warner says that shortly before 4:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon, they were called to investigate a shooting in a guest's room at the Hyatt Place Hotel there.

Detectives investigating the incident believe it was accidental. Warner says the male occupant of the room was mishandling a pistol when he accidentally discharged it. The round went through his hand and into the buttocks of the female occupant of the room. The matter remains under investigation and it has not yet been determined if the man will face criminal charges.


Both subjects were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
