(MURFREESBORO) After almost two and a half hours of detailed information, the vote on whether to merge Murfreesboro Electric Department with Middle Tennessee Electric Department was deferred until January 9, 2020.

Councilmember Madelyn Scales Harris first brought-up the volumes of information she had taken-in and did not feel comfortable quickly making a decision at the Thursday night meeting (12/19/2019).

At that point Councilmember Bill Shacklett agreed and commented and said . . .

There were six "aye" votes agreeing to postpone the vote, with the only "nay" vote cast by Councilmember Eddie Smotherman.

Shacklett's motion was approved and the vote is schedule for the January 9, 2020 meeting of the Murfreesboro City Council.

In the meantime, Murfreesboro City Manager Craig Tindall will be on WGNS from 8:10 to 9:00AM Tuesday morning, December 31, 2019. The public will have the opportunity to talk with him about questions dealing with Murfreesboro at that time.

NewsRadio WGNS will keep you informed.
