(La VERGNE, TN) Two people are in custody following a lengthy pursuit lasting nearly an hour on Wednesday morning (12/4/2019), It started on Taylor Drive in La Vergne and ended in a rural part of Murfreesboro.

Officers attempted to pull over Christopher McMahan around 10:45 Wednesday morning in La Vergne. The 45-year old man led officers on a pursuit through Smyrna and Murfreesboro before stopping 45-minutes later in front of his home on Cranon Road in rural Murfreesboro.

McMahan and his passenger, identified as 49-year old Donna Shelton, were taken into custody without further incident.

Officers from Smyrna Police Department, Murfreesboro Police Department and the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office aided in the chase.

McMahan is charged with felony evading, felony reckless endangerment x2, criminal simulation, drug paraphernalia, driving on a revoked license, misuse of registration and felony warrant service.

La Vergne Police files show that McMahan has been arrested 33 previous times and also has an active Rutherford County warrant for aggravated assault.

Shelton is charged with resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest or search.
