Will electric rates go up in the City of Murfreesboro? Well, that question can partially be answered by the TVA who supplies electricity to Murfreesboro Electric.

The next meeting for the TVA to discuss their rates will be in August of 2017. If the board decides to increase rates, the newly adjusted price would not go into place until October of 2017.

Fuel Costs Fluctuate:


One item that does change monthly is the fuel costs for the TVA. In short, it refers to the cost of the fuel it takes to generate your power--the uranium, coal, oil and natural gas that TVA must purchase to run its nuclear, fossil, combined cycle and combustion turbine plants to keep energy flowing affordably and reliably throughout the Tennessee Valley. It is the cost of the raw materials used to generate electricity.
