$650 and two Money Grams later... a local resident has filed a police report after being scammed out of her hard earned cash.

The incident was reported Wednesday after a Murfreesboro woman found a Yorkie puppy on Craigslist. The dog was actually in Maryland and the victim sent the seller a money gram for the dog that was scheduled to be shipped on the same day that the money was received. However, the seller asked for an additional $400 for rabies shots which was the red light for the victim.

To date, the victim has not received the dog and has already paid $650 to the seller.

The suspect was identified as Maria Mendez, but she has not been caught. It is not known if the name is real or fake.
