20 Year old Smyrna Man Killed in Nashville Accident

The man killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash in the 1100 block of Bell Road has been positively identified as Jamarquez Rakeem Owens, 20, of Smyrna.

Owens was driving a 2008 Nissan Sentra east on Bell Road when he left the roadway and collided with a utility pole at 4:20 a.m. The vehicle caught fire. Owens was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

There was no evidence at the scene to indicate drug or alcohol involvement.

Due to the extent of the injuries, positive identification was made by the Medical Examiner's Office. The Nissan Sentra had reportedly been stolen from a Haywood Lane market prior to the crash. The owner, Faustino Yacobo, 49, did not report it stolen until Sunday night.
