Operation Bless a Child, which is part of the New Vision Prison Ministry program, will be giving 4,500 Christmas Gifts to 800 children on Saturday. The event will be at New Vision Baptist Church on Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro.

Pastor John Spurgeon told WGNS that the Christmas Gifts are for the children of those incarcerated in Rutherford County.

Work release inmates have also saved their money to adopt a homeless family in Murfreesboro and to help them with Christmas. That being said, a single mother who lives in a van with her two children will be the recipient of help from the inmates. The work release inmates who hold down a job during the day and sleep at the Rutherford County Workhouse at night, have saved their own money to help the single mother.

On Saturday, lunch and dinner will be served to inmates and their families. Christmas gifts for the children will follow.

Open to the Public:

  • A portion of the morning event will be open to the public to attend. The general public can be a part of the Christmas Services from 9 to 9:45 AM.
  • The evening service will be open to the general public and their families from 2 to 2:45 PM.
  • The event is free
