A 74-year old Todd Court man was accidentally shot. Murfreesboro Police Officer Travis Henderson reports being called to the man's home just before midnight Tuesday. They had to force entry as the door was locked and the man inside was yelling for help.

A preliminary investigation revealed the man heard a noise at his back door. He grabbed his Smith and Wesson .454, which was cocked. When he went to uncock the weapon, it reported discharged. A round struck the man in the knee, causing extensive damage.

The man was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services.
