A man convicted and sentenced to thirty years in prison by a Rutherford County jury has filed an appeal. However, the Tennessee Supreme Court turned down the request on December 15, 2016.

Marcus Anthony Robey was convicted for an aggravated robbery that took place in 2012. The robbery unfolded at Advance Financial on Old Fort Parkway.

Robey, from Cross Plains, TN reportedly took part in the crime that unfolded as an employee was leaving the business. That employee told police that as he was locking the front door he was approached by two black males wearing all black clothing with bandanna's covering their faces. The men forced the employee back into the business and made him open the store safe. The two culprits grabbed the money and fled the scene.

Robey, who was one of the two men involved in the crime, petitioned the Tennessee Supreme Court to withdraw his guilty plea. The courts turned down his request in 2015 and then he filed again in 2016.

On December 15, 2016, the Tennessee Supreme Court officially handed down their thought by denning another application for a new trial to take place that was filed by Robey.

Robey will continue to serve his sentence in prison until his release date of 2044.
