County Mayor & Sheriff Win GOP Primary

Rutherford County Mayor Ernest Burgess and Sheriff Robert Arnold both defeated GOP challengers Tuesday in the county primary. Burgess defeated challenger Jimmy Evans by 2,302 votes while Arnold defeated challenger Bob Asbury by 2,849 votes. Burgess says the biggest challenge facing him the next four years will continue to be keeping up with explosive growth...

Sheriff Arnold defeated a Republican challenge and says his focus now is on the county general election in August, where he faces both a Democrat and Independent challenger...

Arnold says he's enjoyed his first term as sheriff and the accomplishments made during his tenure...

Arnold will face three more challengers in the August 7th general election. Former Rutherford County Sheriff's Department Detective Jim Tramel is running as an independent. Another independent, former T-B-I Special Agent and Murfreesboro Police officer Dale Armour is seeking the office. On the Democratic side, Bill Kennedy is also running for the office. He's a former S-R-O supervisor for the RCSO.
