Dr. Oran Aaronson Joins St. Thomas In January

Saint Thomas Medical Partners, part of the Ascension Tennessee ministry Saint Thomas Health, announced that Dr. Oran Aaronson will join Saint Thomas Medical Partners as part of the Howell Allen Clinic practice. Dr. Aaronson will join the Saint Thomas Health ministry on January 1, 2017.

"Both a skilled surgeon and academician, he is known for his approach to complex spinal procedures. We are so pleased that he will be joining the Howell Allen Clinic practice within Saint Thomas Medical Partners, a group that is known for advanced neurosurgical practice."

Aaronson, currently the Medical Director of the Vanderbilt Spine Center, received his medical degree from The Medical College of St. Bartholomew's Hospital, University of London. He completed his general surgery internship and neurosurgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), serving as neurosurgery chief resident in 2003 and 2004. He completed his Masters of Management in Health Care at the Owen School at Vanderbilt University, receiving the Dean's Award for First in Class.

Aaronson has served on the faculty of VUMC in the department of neurosurgery since 2004 and was the residency program director for neurosurgery from 2010 through 2015. In addition to his tenure at VUMC, he served as chief of neurosurgery at the Nashville Veterans Administration Hospital from 2004 through 2014.

An active researcher and author, Aaronson has participated in or led research protocols in neurosurgery for more than twenty years. He is a contributing author on more than twenty-five peer-reviewed publications and presentations on the topic of spinal surgical procedures. Aaronson is board certified by the American Board of Neurosurgery and is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, among other professional organizations.
