The search for a suspect in the early morning shooting of a man in front of 417 South University Street at Reid Alley continues.

MPD Public Information Officer Amy Norville tells NewsRadio WGNS it happened early Thursday morning...

Norville says when officers got to the scene, they found 32-year old Byrus Hughes lying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds.

She says he was treated on scene by members of the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department and Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services, who transported him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Hughes is listed in critical but stable condition at the hospital.

Norville says there is no suspect information is available at this time as this is an ongoing investigation in the
preliminary stages.
