Smyrna Police need your help in resolving a Friday afternoon robbery at Publix in Smyrna.

Smyrna Police Sergeant Bobby Gibson told NewsRadio WGNS that at approximately 4:50 on Friday afternoon, December 18, 2015, the suspect entered the Publix grocery on President's Place.

Police reports show that once inside the store, the suspect waited for his accomplice to phone the customer service desk.

Sergeant Gibson said, "The store received a phone call stating that the male at the customer service desk was armed with a gun and should be given all of the money from the cash drawers."

The clerk complied and gave this subject the money and he began to exit the store. As this subject was attempting to leave the store, he was intercepted by a customer who attempted to stop this subject. This suspect did manage to escape the store and left the area in a vehicle that was driven by another person.

This suspect is described as a black male, early 20's, thin build, approximately 6'0" tall, wearing a black-zippered hoodie, black baseball cap with white stripes across the front, blue jeans, sunglasses and blue Nike tennis shoes.

Smyrna Police believe the subject may have injuries to the left side of his face as a result of his confrontation with the customer.

Currently, officials are unable to confirm the make and model of the get-away vehicle.

Anyone who may be able to identify this individual is asked to contact Detective Allan Nabours at (615) 267-5434.
