Previous story on Sobriety Checkpoints in Rutherford County this weekend:

A sobriety checkpoint will take place in LaVergne this Saturday and a seat belt checkpoint will occur in Murfreesboro on Saturday as well.

Members of the La Vergne Police Department will conduct the Sobriety checkpoints on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25. Sobriety checkpoints will not only identify drunk drivers, but will also focus on speeding, safety belt, and other road violations.  Checkpoints will begin at 8:00 p.m. both nights and will take place on Murfreesboro Road, Waldron Road, Stones River Road, and Old Nashville Highway.

LaVergne Police Officers will also be working moving Alcohol Saturation Patrols (ASPs) from 6:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. both nights to aggressively search for drivers who choose to drive after consuming alcohol. The cost of the saturation patrols are covered through a Governor Highway Office Safety grant.

The seat belt checkpoint will take place this Saturday, May 24th in Murfreesboro.

The seat belt checkpoint is expected to take place at 1 PM on Saturday on Broad Street, one mile east of State Route 840 in Murfreesboro.
