Jennings Jones defeated Chuck Ward in the Republican primary District Attorney General race. Jones received 62% of the vote to Ward's 37.7%, a difference of 3,090 votes. Jones said when his boss of 15-years, DA Bill Whitesell decided not to seek re-election, he decided he would seek the office...

Jones is the grandson of former Murfreesboro Mayor Jennings A. Jones, who served from 1950 to 1954.
