As Rutherford County and the City of Murfreesboro continues to deal with growth related problems, some communities are dealing with the opposite.

Murfreesboro continues to grow by about 200 residents each month.

Below are a small handful of counties with decreased populations in TN:

  • Carter County, TN population of 57,483 in 2011. By 2015, their count was down to 56,486
  • Claiborne County, TN population of 32,084 in 2011. By 2015, their count was down to 31,709.
  • Carroll County, TN population of 29,475 in 2009. By 2015, their count was down to 27,910.
  • Obion County, TN population of 32,450 in 2000. By 2015, their count was down to 30,639.
  • Hancock County, TN population of 6,819 in 2010. By 2015, their count was down to 6,572.
