She has a passion for helping cancer patients. But as she explains, this dread disease touches so many . . .

As a nurse, Dara's first patient had cancer. But this disease is much more personal to her. Early in her nursing career, she was diagnosed as having cancer. Both Dara and her brother are cancer survivors. Her mother died from the disease, and her father had cancer, but died of complications related to heart disease.

She is always encouraging and lifting-up individuals and their families who face cancer. Dara is also a promoter of telling your physician quickly whenever you notice something different with your body, as early detection increases the survival rate. And she is active in helping Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. Congratulations to Dara Rogers, the first recipient of our Heart for Healing award.
