Supplies for Gatlinburg residents devastated by forest fires are being collected by the Rutherford County Sheriff's Explorer Post members at the Sheriff's Office lobby at 940 New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro.

Deputy Andy Pugh, who advises the Explorer members, said he launched the drive to help the residents in need.

"I imagine their food bank is going to need food and water," Deputy Pugh said.

The Sevier County Economic Development Office said residents need pre-packaged snacks, water, Wet Wipes and hand sanitizer.

Explorers will also collect items from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3 outside Sam's Club on John Rice Boulevard in Murfreesboro.

Deputy Pugh and the Explorers will deliver the supplies to Gatlinburg next week.
