High school football is back. Rutherford County football teams will be preparing this week for the first battle of the season on Friday.

NewsRadio WGNS will once again bring you coverage of prep sports this season, as we've done since the station signed on the air in 1947. Bryan Barrett, Jon Dinkins and Rod Edwards will travel to Stewarts Creek as the Red Hawks welcome county foe Siegel.

Pregame coverage will begin at 6pm with Friday Night Thunder Pregame, hosted by Dennis Weaver. It's a look around the mid-state at all of the matchups.

Then, at 6:30pm, it's the Primetime Sports Countdown to Kickoff, sponsored by the Law Offices of John Day. The sports team will break down each county matchup and focus on the broadcast game.

Kickoff is set for 7pm.
